As I mentioned yesterday I bought two 5 gallon buckets of sweet cherries.
Last night I sorted and washed them.
Today I bagged up 23 quarts of them to freeze.
I don't pit them we just eat them partially frozen and spit out the pits like you would do when they are fresh.
This is a favorite evening snack for our family in the fall and winter months when fresh fruit is not readily available.
The rest of them I put in a clean drawer in my fridge for a healthy snack.

Those look so delicious! We have that kind of cherries here, but not the tart cherries.
ReplyDeleteEmma-I thought of you when I was bagging up the cherries. It's almost mind boggling to think of you going into winter when I'm in the thick of gardening! I didn't do any tart cherries this year. Had some left from last year.
ReplyDeletehi rebecca,

Wow. Cherries cost an arm and a leg around here. What an excellent winter treat that would be. My mouth is watering.
