House Hunting

~~~~~~~~~~
Some relatively new news around our house is that we are planning to move.
We are preparing our current home to go on the market, and we are also house hunting for a new home.
We're moving about twenty to thirty miles west of where we currently live to be closer to church, and also nearer my parents who are needing a little more help as they get older.
Here's the thing though.
I HATE house hunting.
I would just like the looking process to be over.......yesterday.
It seems like everything in our price range is too small, in the wrong location, or has no place for a few chickens......all important things for our family.
To keep things in perspective I made a list of the "requirements" for a house for our family.
It's pretty short really.
1. Enough space for our family, and animals, both inside the house and outside. ( No, we aren't planning on putting the chickens in the house, or the children in the yard.)
2. A basement.....doesn't have to be a fancy one.....just a place to store things.
3.  A garage, or barn for hubby's tools and lawn mower etc.
That's pretty much the list.
So, I'm curious............
If you were in the market for a house, what would be on your list?
  1. I'd need a huge amount of storage space!
    Nice to see you blogging again!
    1. Storage is pretty important isn't it? We looked at a house a couple weeks ago that had almost no closets!! It had some other points against it, but the lack of storage was a major point against it.
  2. How very exciting! Hope you find the perfect place! Space is important! More than one bathroom would be a must for me.
    1. Yes, we would prefer having at least two bathrooms as well. Our only exception to that is if the price was right, and there was a possibility of us adding a second bathroom. Currently we have two so moving back to one would put a severe cramp in our showers--so to speak. :)
  3. I feel your pain! We moved twice in 2 years and our list vs. our budget both times were pretty much an invitation for miracle. My hubby is a truck driver so room to park his rig was high on the list. Followed closely by room for all our kids. =) I can put up with minimal storage in the house (I'm a purger) but a barn/shed/garage for the bikes etc. is a must. The good news is divine intervention came to our rescue and we don't live in a mansion but we do have everything we need. Best wishes on your search!
    1. Twice in two years?! That's a lot of moves. I've only moved twice in 16 years of marriage...the last time was four children ago though. :)
  4. How precious and wonderful to take your parents into consideration and move closer to them!
    God is good and will reward you with a perfect place for you.
    We moved to our "dream" home (750 sq. ft.), several years ago. Of course, we are retired so we don't need much. The one thing that I have come to appreciate is our basement. It's not livable but great storage!
    1. I actually think part of the problem in finding a new house is that I LOVE where we live right now. I know I can be content though in a new place too.
